PELÉ

CARNIVAL LIMITED LUXURY EDITION

Carnival is the ‘bible’ to the God of football, Pelé: an ultra-luxury and highly limited edition of his 2006 official autobiography.

It comprises 720 lavishly-printed pages, detailing every aspect of Pelé’s life. It was limited to 150 units worldwide to ensure it became the ultimate sporting collectible investment.

It Weighs More

than a Gold Bar

and is more valuable

Each piece is truly a work of art; hand-bound, covered in Italian silk, and embroidered with calfskin leather lettering. Each book is autographed by Pelé himself.

Most importantly, the true value of Carnival is that it comes with an incredibly rare commodity - a timeless photograph of the all-conquering 1970 Brazilian World Cup Beautiful Team, hand signed by all surviving 10 members and their manager (Everaldo had died in a car crash in 1977), with a security hologram, and a booklet describing the hunt for their signatures. Since the signatures were obtained, 3 more of those who signed have passed away.

(I am now releasing the last few)

Carnival is in two parts

A "big book" detailing the life of the God of football, Pelé.

This monumental creation, weighs in at over 30lbs (or nearly 15 kilos). A meticulously presented work of art, it contains more than 1700 images, some of which have never been published, including a collection of rarely seen prints by Andy Warhol.

A signed photograph of the all-conquering “Beautiful Team”.

This legendary, almost mythical team, that played the most popular sport in the world, reached its peak at the Azteca Stadium with a third World Cup win for Brazil - ensuring that the value of this piece will only ever increase.

"Warhol's canvas was cloth.

Pelé's canvas was the pitch"

In 2005 a team of UK journalists traveled to Brazil four times to collect together the signatures of this legendary team; a feat that had never been done before and was never to be repeated. See the story of their journeys in The Independent newspaper UK (and here are articles in the Brazilian media; football monthly Placar and economics weekly Isto É).

The result is a photo of the iconic team, lined up next to their opponents before that game, hand-signed by all 10 surviving members, together with their Manager, Mario Zagallo.

150 of these photos were signed to commemorate the biography of the team’s star, Pelé.

A handful remain.

Whatever the reason for acquisition, Pelé ‘Carnival’ is equally ‘at home’ on display, as it is ‘away’ in any bank vault.

About the Owner

"I really want to use something that stemmed directly from my own personal tragedy, to positively affect the lives of the many millions of people who get stuck, give up searching for the info they need, and stay in - excluded from society."

“I describe myself as a football-crazy Brazilophile. I grew up in Camden, North London, and for more than 50 years have ardently followed my local team, Arsenal. Then, in my early 20s, I spent two of the happiest years of my life, living and working in Rio de Janeiro. I met many wonderful locals there, and learnt to speak the language fluently.

I appreciate the emotions that football provokes in Brazil (as their main Football Museum says "football is more than a sport: it is our heritage, part of our culture, and our identity").

Fast forward to 1999: A life-changing car crash meant I became a wheelchair user, with multiple other severe disabilities, in a split second. I later received large compensation.

So when a friend showed me Carnival; the first book that his new publishing company had created, I spontaneously decided to put part of my accident compensation into buying all the remaining copies from him – because I could, and because I saw something of beauty in it, and something which united my twin passions.

I moved to Sydney in 2011, and in recent years have founded a charity there, for people like me with mobility challenges. It aims to deliver information for them about how they can best enjoy their day-to-day leisure activities.

Ever since I started WheelEasy, I've known the day would come when I could use my spontaneous investment in Carnival for the benefit of my charity. Now I’ve decided to sell them, and 50% of the sales will be donated to take WheelEasy’s Access Information Web App international.”
